Elaine Thompson-Herah responded to Ato Boldon's doubts about her career comeback, expressing confidence in overcoming injuries to make history and inspire future generations.

Elaine Thompson-Herah has seemingly clapped back at Trinidadian legend Ato Boldon who made claims that her body is done and she cannot bounce back and produce the same results she did in the past years.

The five-time Olympic champion explained that injuries have been a nightmare in her career but promised that when she gets back on track, she will be out to write more history and excite fans with her impressive talent on the track.

Elaine Thompson-Herah acknowledged the fact that she is a special talent and will be ready to continue inspiring the young generation once she gets fit and ready to compete against some of her serial rivals including Sha’Carri Richardson, Julien Alfred and Co.

Her statements clearly dismiss what Ato Boldon claimed earlier this season when Elaine Thompson-Herah withdrew from the Paris Olympic Games citing an injury.

“I know my capabilities and once I overcome my injuries and obstacles I know I will do great things because I am greatness and I’m history and I want to do more on the track and create history and leave a legacy behind for the young girls and boys,” Elaine Thompson-Herah said.

“My greatest motivation is to believe in myself and I write down my affirmations and tick them off each day and push myself and stay hardworking and focused and stay healthy.”

She added that injuries are a part of an athlete’s journey and this season Shericka Jackson also became a victim of the same, forcing her to withdraw from the Paris Olympic Games too. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce also had a tough season, starting it late due to an injury and could not continue with her campaign at the Paris Olympic Games.

Elaine Thompson-Herah revealed that the injuries can be at times frustrating but her support system has kept her grounded and motivated her not to lose hope in dreams. She believes that once injuries are over, she will bounce back to winning ways.

“Facing injuries is a part of the sport but it’s very frustrating because as an elite athlete, you want to go out there and do your best and as you the Olympics have passed and as the defending Olympic champion I would have loved to race in Paris,” Elaine Thompson-Herah said.

“Nevertheless, the injury jumped in but I just need to keep my composure, my focus and stay motivated. My friends, family and my husband always keep me going. I have believed in myself and once my belief is strong because nobody can believe for you and that starts within you.”

Meanwhile, Ato Boldon had earlier this season, in an interview with Letsrun.com said: "I look at Elaine and think that she has done things that nobody else has done. She is in a club of one with her double-double in the last two Olympic Games. But I don't think she's coming back. I don't.”
