Triple world record holder Faith Kipyegon will be heading into the final of the women’s 1500m at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary on Tuesday, August 22 with lofty ambitions set as the defending champion.
Kipyegon has achieved remarkable feats this season, breaking three world records, the 1500m, 5000m, and one-mile records and she will be hoping to extend the winning streak once she heads to the final.

In Heat Two, defending champion Kipyegon looked comfortable as she led from gun to tape and eventually clocked 3:55.14 to cross the line.
The two-time World champion noted that she is aware people will be watching and she wants to do her best.
“I want to die hard…I want to do the best stepping out to that 1500m final and see what will be possible,” she said.
The two-time Olympic champion will be up against some of the other greatest 1500m runners including double Olympic champion Sifan Hassan and arch-rival Laura Muir among others.
She will also enjoy the company of youngster Nelly Chepchirchir who has been in a class of her own during the Heats and semifinal of the races.

Kipyegon also disclosed that despite achieving numerous feats, one that stands out for her is the 1500m world record since she had been chasing it for quite a long time.
“The 1500m world record is my baby…I have been looking forward to breaking it for a long time and finally, I made it,” she said.
