In a post-race interview after the Zurich Diamond League, Elaine Thompson-Herah shared her experience not making the individual Jamaican team to the World Championships in Budapest.
Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah finally opened up on how she felt missing a Jamaican individual spot to the World Championships in Budapest.
In an interview with nationwideradiojm.com, Thompson-Herah detailed the emotional pain she felt of not competing in an individual event in Budapest.
"It was really hard, the fact that I did not make the individual team for the world championships. I cried for two weeks, I did not want to finish the season, but my husband pushed me to continue...I'm a warrior, it's not bad to cry, it's not bad to feel pain," said the multiple Olympic champion.
Thompson-Herah was part of the Jamaican 4x100m relay team in Budapest but ran only in the heats and didn't partake in the final, as the team finished with a silver medal.
In her first 100m race after the World Championships, she finished third in a Season's Best (SB) performance of 11.00s, behind world champion Sha'Carri Richardson (10.88s) and compatriot Natasha Morrison (11.00s).
