Oblique Seville is plotting for a grand return in 2025, with the main aim getting revenge over Noah Lyles.
Oblique Seville is among the Jamaican sprinters backed to dominate the men’s sprinting scene this season but he failed to show up when it mattered, failing to impress at the Paris Olympic Games.
However, he has promised an even better season in 2025, where he hopes to continue from where he left from including going for a medal at the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan. The Jamaican sprint king started his season with a win in the 400m at the Camperdown Classics.
Seville then proceeded to win the 200m at the Velocity Fest 14 before silencing Noah Lyles at the Racers Grand Prix. Defeating Noah Lyles in the race introduced Seville to the world and kickstarted a new rivalry.

Junelle Bromfield, fiancée to Olympic champion Noah Lyles has revealed why she wouldn't have been able to school in Lyles' home country USA.
Oblique Seville then proceeded to finish second behind Kishane Thompson at the Jamaican Championships, setting a stage to renew rivalry with Noah Lyles. He defeated Noah Lyles in the semifinal of the men’s 100m and that would be the last time he achieved that this season, but in 2025, Seville has warned he will be back to continue with his mission.
Noah Lyles went on to win the men’s 100m Olympic title as Kishane Thompson and Fred Kerley finished second and third respectively. Oblique Seville was forced to end his season after the Olympics and it took time before he processed his performance.
However, he seems to be back on track and has resumed training already. In a post on his Instagram handle, bullish Seville said: “I’ll be back.”
Oblique Seville trains under Glen Mills, Usain Bolt’s former coach and there is no doubt that in the coming years, he will be a force to reckon with. He has the experience of competing in major championships and a few setbacks have prevented him from showing up fully.
He made his Olympic debut at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games where he finished fourth in the men’s 100m semifinal and missed out on a slot in the final. He competed in the relay race where Team Jamaica finished fourth.
He then competed at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, Oregon where he finished fourth in the men’s 100m and also raced in the men’s 4x100m relay. Oblique Seville also finished fourth in the men’s 100m final at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
