Jacob Kiplimo is intensely preparing for his London Marathon debut, ready to take on giants like Eliud Kipchoge and Kenenisa Bekele.

They always say it takes a village to raise a child and the same can be said about Jacob Kiplimo’s preparation ahead of his full marathon debut at the London Marathon on Sunday, April 27.

Jacob Kiplimo’s coach Peter Chelangat, is working closely with top tacticians from Italy to ensure the world half marathon record holder is in top shape ahead of the debut.

Jacob Kiplimo will face off against some of the strongest contenders including five-time Berlin marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge, Kenenisa Bekele and defending champion Alexander Mutiso among other stars.

His coach revealed that they are working closely with some of his colleagues from Rosa Associati to ensure he delivers on his first 42km race.

“You have to be confident and patient. And of course, you have to know what you’re doing. Without these, you might fail to handle an athlete of his name,” the coach revealed in an interview with Daily Monitor.

“It’s a collective responsibility. I can’t claim that I’m fully responsible for Jacob’s success. My fellow local coaches and even athletes play a role.”

The tactician added that the two-time world cross-country champion is very punctual and never misses a day in training.

He added that Jacob Kiplimo is always willing to help his training mates and he is loved by all of them, thanks to his great personality.

“He is a humble spirit. He motivates others and has a kind heart. Above all, Jacob is very disciplined. He is early for everything. I’m privileged to work with him,” he added.
