The world champion seems to be ready to reclaim her throne after injuries hampered her 2024 season, allowing her rivals to dominate.

Jamaican sprint icon Shericka Jackson seems to be preparing for her comeback in 2025 going by her latest social media post.

Jackson has not competed since pulling out of the Paris Olympics with an injury just before the Games began but appears to have fully recovered and ready to go again.

The world 200m champion teased her rivals with a video of her winning a past race that had the likes of Sha’Carri Richardson and Gabby Thomas, a sign that she is ready to reclaim her throne, after watching from the sidelines as others competed for medals in 2024.

Jackson is the fastest woman alive in 200m with a personal best of 21.41 seconds recorded at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary when she won gold ahead Thomas and Richardson, her time only bettered by the world record of Florence Griffith-Joyner (Flo-Jo) of 21.34 set at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

In her absence, Thomas took full advantage to claim her first Olympics gold, when she stormed to victory in 21.83 seconds, ahead of Julien Alfred but she later admitted that she would have loved to do it against Jackson.

“Having Shericka out this year, it is really unfortunate not to have the reigning world champion in the race, but it is just part of that give and take,” Thomas said after the Olympics race.

“It is really hard to run fast and stay healthy. It takes a lot of management, a lot of planning, and thankfully my coach and I had planned this year perfectly, but I know she will be back.”

Thomas previously admitted to feeling “very intimidated” when she came into the sport at a time Jamaican sprinters such as Jackson, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Elaine Thompson-Herah were dominating but she remains confident of holding her own now.

“A good era for American women’s sprinting. We are really crashing it again, but it is a give and take and a push and pull,” the American said in a separate interview.

Jackson has kept her cards close to her chest in regards to her comeback but the latest post suggests a major showdown is looming in 2025 with Thomas, Richardson, Alfred and Thompson-Herah all vying for top honours in 200m.
