Julien Alfred has explained why she can't be as cocky as other sprinters including Noah Lyles and Sha'Carri Richardson.

Unlike many other accomplished sprint sensations, Julien Alfred prefers her life to be private and she would rather have her results speak for her.

In recent years, the world has seen the emergence of decorated sprinters including Usain Bolt, Noah Lyles, and Sha’Carri Richardson, just to name a few, who have been very vocal on and off the track.

In an interview with the Times, the newly-crowned Olympic champion insisted that she does not like talking and is very shy of the media. She prefers to remain polite and humble and hanging around her, you might not hear her speak.

Alfred also maintains her strong faith in God and on her Instagram bio, she has quoted Romans 8:18, which says, “sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us”.

“I can’t be the person who is cocky. I’m somebody who is almost silent. I let my performances speak for themselves. They have told one of the stories of the sporting year,” she said.

After winning the Olympic title, Alfred insisted that she is not done writing her legacy. She also wants a piece of the cake at the World Championships.

The St. Lucien athlete already has a world indoor title that she won at the start of the season and she hopes to make an impact at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo.

Speaking of the world record, Alfred believes people will not necessarily remember her times but her titles will have much impact years after her retirement.

“People don’t remember times but they always remember you being the Olympic champion. I definitely want more accolades added to my name. I don’t have a world championship medal outdoors, and I want to keep doing well for myself, my country and my coach. I will carry on until my body says ‘We’ve done enough’ and then it’s time to rest and celebrate,” she added.

She revealed her thought process after winning the 100m and claiming a silver medal in the 200m, noting that she could not believe the history she had written.

Alfred disclosed that after winning the race, she did not have time to think since she had to go for the doping tests and do the media interviews.

“I lay in bed going back over what I had done. Yes, it is physical, but it is emotional and mental too. I don’t wish to speak of this as an excuse, but I wish I had more rest for the 200m,” she revealed.
