Julius Yego has not given up on qualifying for the Olympic Games and he will be making another attempt at the Kip Keino Classic after missing the qualifying mark during the African Games.
The 2015 World javelin champion Julius Yego will be targeting Olympic qualification at the Kip Keino Classic scheduled for Saturday, April 20 at the Nyayo National Stadium.

ATHLETICS Julius Yego pens heartfelt message as he names the key lesson learnt after bagging silver at African Games
African champion Julius Yego has made a revelation as he penned a heartfelt message after bagging a silver medal at the African Games.
Yego has to ensure he throws a distance of 85.50 to make the cut to the Olympic Games and if he misses out, he will have to qualify through world rankings, which is never always a sure bet.

“My target is an Olympic qualifying distance at the Kip Keino Classic so that I can avoid the mathematics of qualifying through the world ranking. When one is in good form, just throw the farthest and see what the rest will do.
“It’s my pleasure to compete against some of the world’s top-notch throwers. This also presents a good chance to renew rivalry,” Yego said as per Nation Sport.
He has been off to a great start this season and things are looking up for him as he plans to silence foreigners at the Nyayo National Stadium. He was able to qualify for the javelin at the African Games in Accra, Ghana where he won a silver medal.
