Kamworor clocked a new personal best time of 2:04:23 to settle for second place.
Two-time World Cross-country senior champion Geoffrey Kamworor has termed his London Marathon performance as a sign to the world that he is officially back.
During the event held on Sunday, April 23, Kamworor managed a second-place finish in 2:04:23 behind compatriot Kelvin Kiptum.

He is the 12th fastest in the field with a personal best time of 2:05:23.
Kamworor has been battling a bout of injuries after being hit by a motorcycle in June 2020 which slowed him down as he could not compete in a number of competitions.
The injury he got in 2020 also saw him undergo surgery and he had to take a break from competitions.
“This is an announcement to the world that I am back. It’s now a sign that I am back…I feel great,” Kamworor said.
He expressed excitement towards settling for second place in the highly contested race and set a new personal best time.

“I feel great and happy. It has always been my dream to run in London. After a long struggle with injuries I am inspired to keep going,” he said.
With the Paris Olympics scheduled for 2024, Kamworor said he will be keen to represent the country over the 42km distance.
The two-time New York City Marathon champion started off his season with a fourth-place finish in the senior men’s race at the World Cross-country Championships in Bathurst, Australia in February.

He revealed that his body started responding well to training at the start of this year and he is looking forward to a great season ahead.
Kamworor also lauded Kiptum for the exemplary performance in London that saw him elevated to the second fastest marathoner after posting 2:01:25.
