Keely Hodgkinson oozed class as she crossed the finish line first in world lead, meet record, personal best, and national record time in the women's 800m at the London Diamond League.
Keely Hodgkinson has extended her winning streak to claim top honours at the Diamond League Meeting in London, placing herself in a great position ahead of the Olympic Games.
Passing the 400m, Hodgkinson was in the lead, looking very comfortable for the top prize as Reekie Jemma and Halimah Nakaayi followed closely.
Jamaica’s Natoya Goule-Toppin was running in fourth-place but she climbed to third-place passing the 600m mark. Jemma was still running on Hodgkinson’s shoulder but the latter was looking good for the win.

She struck with a world leading, personal best, national record and meeting record time of 1:54.61. Jemma and another Briton, Georgia Bell finished second and third in respective times of 1:55.61 and 1:56.28.
Hodgkinson opened her season with a 400m race at the 13th Savona International Meeting where she struck with a personal best time of 51.61.
The Briton sensation then proceeded to the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Meeting in Eugene, where she stunned world champion Mary Moraa to claim top honours. Hodgkinson clocked a stunning 1:55.78 to win the race.
The 22-year-old then bagged her second successive 800m title at the European Athletics Championships and she was in great fashion, winning the preliminaries all the way to the final. At the UK Athletics Championships, she competed in the 400m to polish her speed. The world 800m bronze medallist finished second in the heats before finishing seventh in the final.

Her final race before the London Diamond League was the 800m at the FBK Games in Hengelo where she also reigned supreme, outsmarting the strong field. She now heads to the Olympic Games in high spirits, hoping to improve on her silver medal that she won at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
