Reigning world marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum has taken a trip down memory lane to prove that success is not achieved overnight.
The reigning Chicago Marathon champion shared a photo of himself in action during the 2020 Valencia Half Marathon where he finished sixth.
At the time, the now 24-year-old did not give up on his dreams as he continued working hard and his breakthrough arrived during the 2022 Valencia Marathon.

He then extended his winning streak to the 2023 season where he broke the world record on the streets of Chicago and he has so far been unbeaten in all the marathons he has been competing in.

“Time to go a little bit back in time. I came across this picture of the half marathon in Valencia in 2020 which I finished 6th in 58:42.
“Back then I could only dream of running a marathon, so I worked hard for it. It was great to be back two years later and make my debut there.
“Some great memories, I’ll continue to train and work hard to make some more,” the reigning London Marathon champion said in a post on his Instagram page.
Meanwhile, this season he will be eyeing to attempt the sub-two-hour marathon barrier at the Rotterdam Marathon scheduled for Sunday, April 14.
The Kenyan has also expressed interest in competing in the marathon at the Paris Olympic Games where fans will be anticipating a showdown of him against five-time Berlin Marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge.
