An official from Vastu Company Limited, the contractor given the mandate to build a new house for the family of departed marathon great Kelvin Kiptum has opened up on how they plan to execute the task in seven days.
Kiptum had plans to construct his family a house before his untimely death but his family will realise that dream, thanks to the effort from the President.
Many thought it would be impossible to work on the house within seven days, but now, it is looking like the house will be ready by Thursday, the deadline set for the completion of the home.
Meanwhile, prices for constructing such houses vary from one contractor to another. As reported by Kenyans, the shell of a 3-bedroom house with two bathrooms can take 12 days to construct at the price of Ksh 950,000.
Kiptum died just over a week ago, alongside his coach Gervais Hakizimana, following a road accident leaving his family distraught as he was their breadwinner.

ATHLETICS Government to build Kelvin Kiptum’s family new house before he is buried
President Ruto has ordered experts to build a new house for the family of departed marathon great Kelvin Kiptum in the next seven days to give him a befitting send-off.
The 24-year-old made a breakthrough in 2023 as a rival to compatriot Eliud Kipchoge - one of the greatest marathon runners. He bettered Kipchoge’s world record time of 2:01:09 at the Chicago Marathon, clocking 2:00:35 to cross the finish line in what was his third marathon.
He was to compete at the NN Rotterdam Marathon in April and was in a quest to attempt to break the two-hour barrier. His death has left the world in utter shock and too many questions that people might never find answers to.
