Kelvin Kiptum's manager, Marc Corstjens has given a way forward on how the athlete's wealth will be distributed and how Golazo plans to honour the departed athlete and his coach.

Kelvin Kiptum’s manager Marc Corstjens, a Belgium-based coach from the Golazo Company, has promised to take care of the departed marathoner’s family.

The Belgian said the management has been in talks about setting up a foundation to support the late Kiptum’s two children and also cater for their education.

He also explained that all the earnings that were due to him would be paid to his family, saying it was a duty and respect from the Company to the late athlete. He insisted that they could not leave the family or let them down under such a circumstance.

“We are not just a Company that looks for talent and sports, but we also look beyond that, we look to the person behind it, to the family. We are thinking about establishing a foundation to support young children through basic education all the way to university in honour of the departed Kiptum and his coach Gervais Hakizimana.

"About outstanding payments, don't worry. Everything is there. It is noted down. And we will share it with the family. It is the duty and the respect that we have for the athlete and his coach. These are terrible circumstances and we can’t let them down," he said.

Meanwhile, Kiptum had earned himself millions from the three marathons he had competed in. Winning the 2022 Valencia Marathon in a course record time, Kiptum walked away with approximately Ksh 12 million. For breaking the course record, he pocketed a bonus of more than Ksh 4 million.

At the London Marathon, he pocketed more than Ksh 25 million, thanks to his win and breaking Eliud Kipchoge’s course record time. At the Chicago Marathon, Kiptum pocketed Ksh 14,450,000 for winning the race and would also get a bonus of about Ksh 8 million for breaking the world.
