Kelvin Kiptum has shared a passionate request to his fans as he looks forward to his two major assignments in 2024.
Reigning world marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum has requested his fans to offer support as he gears up for a busy 2024 season that entails the NN Rotterdam Marathon and the Olympic Games among other events.
The reigning London Marathon champion will seek a sub-two-hour marathon at Rotterdam’s assignments scheduled for Sunday, April 14. After that, he will begin his campaign to impress at the Olympic Games where he also faces a stern test.
Athletics Kenya is yet to name the squad that will be heading to Paris but Kiptum is among the provisional squad members that also includes former world marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge.

“Now it’s time to run into 2024 and prepare for the Rotterdam Marathon and Olympics, hopefully with you guys by my side as well. I wish all of you a happy, healthy (and fast) new year,” Kiptum said in a post on his Instagram page.
The reigning Chicago Marathon champion was also in awe of his 2023 performances that saw him own the two out of three fastest times in the marathon world.
The 24-year-old started his season with a win at the London Marathon, clocking 2:01:25, the third fastest time in history.

Kelvin Kiptum started 2023 as a relatively unknown runner but ended it as one the most talked about athletes after shattering records at will, including the great Eliud Kipchoge’s mark
He then proceeded to the Chicago Marathon where he clocked 2:00:35 to shatter Kipchoge’s world record time of 2:01:09 that he set to win the 2022 Berlin Marathon.
Kiptum has been impressive in his marathon performance since making his debut at the Valencia Marathon in 2022. He clocked the fastest debut time of 2:01:53 to win the race.
"2023 has been good to me. Some of my happiest moments took place and it has been my best season yet. Thank you London and Chicago for the opportunities. Thank you all for the support throughout the year," he said.
