A number of athletes have wild cards in their pockets and will not be so much under pressure to finish in the top two to book their tickets.
Double world record holder Faith Kipyegon is among those with a wild card as she will not be competing in the 1,500m. However, after smashing the world 5,00m record in Paris last month, the two-time Olympic and world champion will square it out in the 5,000m for a ticket to Budapest in a race set to be among the star attractions.
In the 12.5 lap-race, Kipyegon will face off against Diamond League Final Trophy winner Beatrice Chebet who has a wild card in the category.
Mary Moraa, the 800m gold prospect for Kenya, also has a wild card, thanks to her dominant exploits during the 2022 Diamond League Final in Zurich and so are World and Olympic 800m champion Emmanuel Korir as well as last year's 5,000m Diamond League trophy winner Nicholas Kipkorir.
Africa's fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala is the other star attraction of Day 1 as he will square it off in the 100m semi-final.

ATHLETICS: Kenyan athletes with wild cards to the World Championships in Budapest
Athletics Kenya will be seeking to beef up the team with more formidable athletes as they start the rigorous activity today (Friday, July 7).
It's a cloudy day in the Kenyan capital city Nairobi, temperature 16 degrees centigrade and a 68% humidity. The world renown Kenyan athletes will grace the 32,000 seater Nyayo Stadium today and tomorrow as the federation picks Team Kenya that will fly the country's flag in Budapest, Hungary.
