Jamaican sprinter Kishane Thompson has shared how he was greatly suspected of doping at the Olympics trials way before he clocked a world leading time in Kingston.
Jamaican sprinter Kishane Thompson had to do an unusual doping test during the Olympics trials following suspicions that he could have been cheating.
Thompson ran a world leading time of 9.77 to win the Olympics trials and will be leading team Jamaica in 100m alongside Oblique Seville and Ackeem Blake.
However, he faced questions over his credibility even before the final as doping control officers asked to test him after clocking an impressive 9.82 in the 100m heats a day before the final.

Fans have been dubbing Kishane Thompson 'Asafa Powell 2.0' since his heroic 100m Jamaican Olympic trials, but Gatlin has given two reasons why the runners are very different.
“As soon as I finished the race, there was a doping officer nearby who said; ‘hey Kishane I selected you for doping’ and I’m saying, ‘excuse me, I don’t understand because it’s just the heats,’” he said.
“The more I came that side I tried to understand how they go about this, is it just the final? Because I understand in the final, you have to test but he said, ‘no, I randomly chose you because of what I saw you did.’ I was like what did I do, it looked suspicious I guess.”
The 22-year-ol had failed to finish his race at the JAAA Olympic French Foray 1 in Kingston in May before the Olympics trials and believes that might have led to the suspicions.
Thompson heads to Paris high on confidence as he is top of the tree on the athletes with the world’s fastest times, followed by Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala (9.77), his Jamaican compatriot Seville with 9.82 and world champion and Olympics favourite Noah Lyles sitting fourth with a time of 9.83.
