'Let's go!'- Gabby Thomas to join Hellen Obiri, Sharon Lokedi & Co at New York Marathon

Triple Olympic champion Gabby Thomas will be at the New York City Marathon scheduled for Sunday, November 3, seeking to offer support to the participants in the event.

Gabby Thomas is certainly enjoying her off-season, from enjoying her vacations, media tours and her latest will be an appearance at the New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 3.

The triple Olympic champion was excited to announce on her X (Twitter) handle that she will be gracing the New York City Marathon. However, the American sprint queen will not be racing at any race but she will be out to cheer her favourite marathon runners who will be looking to impress.

Gabby Thomas expressed her excitement ahead of the showpiece, explaining that she has so much respect for everyone who will toe the line on Sunday. Gabby Thomas will join the New York Grand Marshal with the intention of making the event one for the books.

“I am genuinely in awe of everyone who is running in the @nycmarathon this Sunday!! Stoked to cheer everyone on along with the city of New York as Grand Marshal. Let’s go!!! 👏🏽🫶🏽,” an excited Gabby Thomas shared.

On her part, Gabby Thomas has been impressive this season, bagging three gold medals at the Paris Olympic Games.

She started her campaign with the 200m gold medal before being vital as Team USA claimed the 4x100m and 4x400m titles. She capped her season off with the 200m silver medal at Alexis Ohanian’s women-only event, Athlos.

Gabby Thomas’ presence at the New York City Marathon will be a great motivation for the thousands of runners who will be out to try their luck. Defending champions Hellen Obiri and Tamirat Tola headline the strong fields for the women’s and men’s elite fields and they have major plans to defend their titles.

In the open division, the winners of the race will walk away with $100,000 as the second and third-place finishers will pocket $60,000 and $40,000. The athletes who finish fourth, fifth and sixth will bag $25,000, $15,000 and $10,000 respectively. The race organisers will award the top 10 finishers in the event.
