Ford is exploring more opportunities for Mārtiņš Sesks in the WRC after his impressive performances in Poland and Latvia.

M-Sport is exploring more opportunities to include the promising Latvian driver Martiņs Sesks in the World Rally Championship (WRC) lineup following his remarkable performances in recent rallies.

The young driver has made significant waves in the motorsport community with his skillful displays in Poland and Latvia prompting the team to consider a broader engagement in future events.

Sesks, a newcomer to the Rally1 tier, initially joined the Ford-backed M-Sport team under a two-round deal orchestrated by the WRC Promoter and sponsors of last year’s European Rally Championship (ERC) where Sesks finished as a runner-up.

In his first outing in Poland, Sesks drove a non-hybrid Ford Puma to a commendable fifth place, quickly establishing himself as a competitor to watch.

In Latvia, piloting a hybrid-specification Rally1 vehicle, Sesks not only won two stages but also vied for a podium position until a mechanical issue in the final stage relegated him to seventh place.

M-Sport team principal Richard Millener has expressed enthusiasm about Sesks’ potential future with the team.

"Martins has shown he can keep up with seasoned WRC competitors," Millener said. "We didn't fund this ourselves; it was a collaborative effort with our partners. But seeing what he's capable of, we're definitely interested in finding ways to bring him back for more rallies," he said as per Motorsport.com

The determination to extend Sesks' involvement is partly due to his appealing approach to both the sport and fan interactions, which has notably increased his following.

"He’s not only fast on the stages but also has a charisma that resonates well with the fans and the team alike. There are a lot of new Mārtiņš Sesks fans at the minute,” Millener added.

Despite his recent shift to the WRC, Sesks will continue competing in the ERC, driving a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 car at the upcoming Rally di Roma in Italy.

"This experience with M-Sport has been amazing. It feels like joining a family, and we’ve been working closely to achieve our results," said Sesks.

Born in Liepāja, Latvia, and the son of the city’s mayor and former rally driver Uldis Sesks, Mārtiņš has been involved in motorsports from a young age.

Starting in buggies and progressing through karting to rallying, he has demonstrated a natural aptitude and relentless pursuit of racing success.

His career highlights include becoming the first Latvian to win a FIA Junior WRC rally and achieving multiple podiums across European championships.

M-Sport's interest in further integrating Sesks into their WRC efforts underscores a commitment to nurturing new talent and revitalizing their team dynamics.
