Kelvin Kiptum has delved into his personal life and explained why he lives away from his family and his love for Sean Paul.

Reigning World marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum has disclosed that he only gets to spend time with his family once a week due to his busy training schedule.

The 23-year-old revealed that he spends most of his time in Chepkorio, where he trains, while his wife and two kids live in Chepsamo, not far away from Chepkorio.

His two children, Caleb and Precious are seven and four respectively and he explained that he stays away from his family to be able to fully focus on training.

“Chepkorio is located at just over 2,500 meters. I live there from Monday to Saturday. My wife and children live in Chepsamo, a little smaller, about three kilometers away.

My son Caleb is seven, and my daughter Precious is four. I was 16 when my son was born, which is not unusual for us. But I'm only with them on Sundays. That is a conscious choice, to be able to fully focus on training,” Kiptum said as per De Tijd.

The reigning London Marathon champion also disclosed that when training for a marathon, he runs up to 300km per week. His sacrifice and hard work have paid off well since he has been able to earn huge chunks of money and make a name for himself.

He also disclosed that he loves listening to music, especially Sean Paul, one of his favourite R&B artists.

“In the build-up to a marathon, I run between 250 and 300 kilometers per week. That is very much.

Walking, resting, eating, this is what my life looks like. And listening to music. I'm a big fan of R&B and especially Sean Paul. 'She Doesn't Mind' is at the top of my list of most played songs,” he added.
