Reigning Haspa Marathon champion Bernard Koech has come out to narrate how his love for the bottle made him gain an outrageous number of enemies.
In an interview with Nos, Koech narrated that every time he would take alcohol, he would engage in fights with most of his friends and even admitted that he hit his wife at some point.

"I made a lot of enemies during that time. I soon discovered that alcohol and I don't mix well.
"I had drinks and became more and more violent. More and more often I started fighting with friends out of the blue.

"It was only when I hit my wife at home at one point that I realised how destructive I was,” he explained.
Koech also explained how he joined a company of bad influence that ruined him to the core. In what must have been his best years between 2015 and 2020, as a celebrated marathon runner he was always surrounded by, as he calls it, "bad company".
