After returning to action following his two-year suspension, Mark Otieno is determined to make a triumphant comeback at the 2024 Paris Olympics alongside his best mate Omanyala

Kenyan sprinter Mark Otieno is gearing up for a triumphant return to the track at the 2024 Paris Olympics, following a suspension that sidelined him during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

Otieno, who was barred from competing in Tokyo after testing positive for the prohibited anabolic steroid methasterone, is determined to make up for lost time and shine on the international stage once again.

In an interview on Citizen TV, Otieno expressed his eagerness for the upcoming season, which includes the World Relays, indoor competitions, and, most importantly, the Paris Olympics in 2024.

"There is a lot in store come 2024," he stated. "I'm really looking for what God has in store for me, and I'm ready for what is coming up ahead," he said.

One of the most exciting prospects for Otieno is the potential competition with Africa's fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala.

Despite their rivalry on the track, Otieno emphasized their strong bond and camaraderie, forged during their time together in Tokyo.

He sees Omanyala not just as a competitor but as a supportive team-mate in their quest to represent Kenya on the global stage.

"He is such a good brother and competitor," Otieno said, highlighting the unity within the Kenyan sprinting community.

After serving a two-year suspension, Otieno resumed full training in August, signaling his commitment to returning to peak form.

In his first outing of the year, he demonstrated remarkable strength and narrowly missed the Olympic qualifying time by a mere 0.39 seconds.

To secure his spot at the Paris Games, Otieno needs to clock a time of 10 seconds or better between now and June 30, 2024.

One of the most exciting possibilities on the horizon is the potential partnership between Otieno and Ferdinand Omanyala on Team Kenya in Paris.

Both athletes possess incredible speed and talent, and if they both meet the Olympic qualifying standards, their collaboration could be a game-changer for Kenya's sprinting ambitions.
