Former World champion Salwa Eid Naser will compete in her first race since 2019, racing against Abby Steiner and Rosemary Chukwuma.
Nigerian-born Bahrain athlete Salwa Eid Naser will be back to track action at Michael Johnson Invitational this weekend, racing in the 100m and 200m against Abby Steiner and Rosemary Chukwuma.
It will be Naser's first competition since her whereabouts suspension following the 2019 season, when she won 400m gold at the World Championships in Doha on Oct. 3, 2019, clocking 48.14s - the third fastest time in history.

The Court of Arbitration on Sports (CAS) will later announce on June 30, 2021, that Naser was banned until February 2023, therefore, will miss the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics and 2022 World Championships in Oregon.
Now making her return at the Michael Johnson Invitational, where she is listed to compete in the 100m and 200m, the former world champion will face a stiff test against US star sprinter Steiner and Nigeria's Chukwuma.

Steiner is the fastest on the list with Personal Best (PB) times of 10.90s in the 100m and 21.77s in the 200m, while Chukwuma has PBs of 10.99s and 22.33s respectively. For Naser, her PBs are 11.24s and 22.51s, set back in 2019.
Considering she's just making a return, the 24-year-old may not be at her best yet, but she cannot be written off in any race with her pedigree.

On the other hand, Steiner will gun to lower her Season's Best (SB) of 22.23s and run sub-22s, while Chukwuma seems to be back at her best after her outstanding wind-aided 10.85s in the 100m last week.

Whoever wins the 100m and 200ms races will produce fast times having other athletes such as Anavia Battle, Ashanti Moore, and Lynna Irby-Jackson as strong competitors to push for a major upset.
