Night of Legends: The glitz and glamour by American track stars at USATF Awards

In photos plus details of winners at the Night of Legends USATF Awards.

The 2024 Night of Legends USATF Awards was one to be cherished by several American track and field athletes as they graced the occasion in their glamorous red-carpet fashion styles.

Following a brilliant Olympic year for some of the athletes, they were honoured with the most prestigious American track and field awards for their Paris exploits.

Triple Olympic champion Gabby Thomas was named the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Female Athlete of the Year.

Thomas won 200m gold at the Paris Olympic Games with a 21.83s, earned a second gold as the third leg on the 4x100m, and ran the third leg of the American record 4x400m to round out a triple crown.

For the Jesse Owens Male Athlete of the Year Award, Grant Holloway's record-breaking season crowned him the winner.

Holloway won gold at the Paris Olympic Games with his 12.99s in the 110mH, erased his 60mH world record to 7.27s, triumphed as the world indoor 60mH champion, and ran sub-13s six times this season.

Masai Russell made a statement when she clocked the second-fastest 100mH time in US history to win the Olympic Trials, then went on to take gold in Paris.

For her outstanding season, the hurdling star won the Breakthrough Performer Wing Award presented by the Greater Orlando Sports Commission.

Consequently, Quincy Hall inspired the world when he made the move from fourth to first in the final stretch of the men’s 400 to win gold at the Paris Olympic Games.

His performance on the track earned him the Inspirational Olympic Performance Wing Award, presented by the Greater Orlando Sports Commission.

Rising star Quincy Hall is highly regarded as the future of the sport, was part of the gold medal-winning US 4x400m team, and thus became the youngest men’s track and field Olympic gold medalist at the Paris Games.

This year, he set a world U18 best three times, and for his brilliance was named the USATF Youth Athlete of the Year.

Despite not being present at the Night of Legends awards, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone won the Most Dominant Performer Wing Award, presented by the Greater Orlando Sports Commission.

The hurdling queen broke her world record in the 400mH twice in 2024, defended her Olympic title, and helped Team USA to a 4x400m American record to win the gold medal in Paris.

Other track stars present on the night that showed their glamorous styles on the red carpet were - Double Olympic gold medallist Rai Benjamin and world indoor 60m champion Christian Coleman.
