In just his second meet of the season, Trayvon Bromell clocked two world-leading times and sixth fastest 60m time in world history at the Tiger Paw Invitational.
Trayvon Bromell is a man on a mission this season, as the American speedster blazed to the sixth fastest 60m time in world history at the Tiger Paw Invitational.
Bromell made his intentions known of his fantastic form in the qualifying heat, clocking the fastest overall time of 6.54s.
He improved on this to a blazing new Personal Best (PB) of 6.46s in the semifinals, making him the new world leader in the event this season.
Undisturbed in the final, the 2016 World 60m Champion stormed to an exceptional 6.42s, which improved his world-leading mark, propelled him to sixth all-time in world history, and fifth on the all-time American list.
Bromell's outstanding performance comes from the brink of finishing second to Noah Lyles at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix last week. Though both clocked an identical time of 6.51s, the latter got the win for a faster reaction time.
Lyles will later post on his social media platforms "It is my house now", to which Bromell will respond on his Instagram page "He said "this his house"?....Bet!"
Lyles is set to compete in the 60m at the Milrose Games (Saturday), so Bromell has surely set a strong marker with his 6.42s, and it's left for Lyles to either match or surpass it.
Both men are surely giving the indoor season a facelift, considering they're backing their words with actions. And the rivalry is just getting started, which is good for the sport.
But before the indoor season comes to an end, we will be sure of who has the sole bragging rights on whose house it is.
