Noah Lyles has had a blissful 2023 season and he has shared some informative tips on how he was bale to conquer the 100m.

Sprint king Noah Lyles has shared tips on how to conquer the 100m after a successful track season.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the triple World champion noted that starting out from the blocks is very important but it’s not everything.

“For every sprint race, we have to start from the blocks. The blocks are very important but I want to put something for you to think about.

The start is important but it’s not everything. You can have a decent start and still win but if you have a bad start, it’ll be difficult to win.

Always keep in mind that the start doesn’t have to be perfect for you to win but you still need to work on good positions,” he said.

He explained that he always tries his best to get to the 10m mark in seven steps while being powerful and fast. However, he cautioned against being overly powerful and strong and explained that athletes should just maintain their stamina.

“If I get past the 10m mark in seven steps, I definitely know that I’ll be flying on the track. If you watch any of my videos, you’ll notice how I do it,” he said.

The American added that passing the 20m mark, he is still trying to put on that force and that is where he will accelerate and try to find the speed. Going to the 30m mark, he explained that it is where his body will naturally try going up and he does not force it.

“Now we are going to the 30m mark, we are transitioning as some people would say. At this point, my knees are starting to come up and I’ve started moving down the track,” he said.

He added that after getting to the 40m mark, he now sets his body up accelerates, and uses force to keep going.

He also emphasized keeping the good positions. As he approaches the 60m mark, Lyles noted that he keeps on pushing and does not rest on his laurels at all.

“Right about 70m, you’re probably getting close to your top-end speed and now you have to make the very important decision.

As you look to your left and right, you have to decide whether you are going to try harder and win the race or maintain your speed,” he explained.

He added that graining and gritting is the fastest way to lose a race since it consumes a lot of energy in a short amount of time.

“You have to keep positions and calmly try and keep up your pace. You don’t want to do that all at once because you might just lose your energy faster. You need to calmly and patiently adjust a little bit more speed,” he said.

At the 80m mark, Lyles noted that an athlete usually has already hit their top-end speed. At that point, he urged athletes to maintain the speed they have.

“At the 90m mark, this is where you can be deadly. While others are dying, you can convince yourself to maintain your form and add a bit of more energy,” he said.
