Gabby Thomas has warned Shericka Jackson, Julien Alfred, Brittany Brown, and others after she won the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Female Athlete of the Year award.

Triple Olympic champion Gabby Thomas has warned Shericka Jackson, Brittany Brown, Julien Alfred and other formidable 200m runners after being honoured as the Jackie Joyner-Kersee female athlete of the year.

After missing out on the World Athletics Awards, it was such a great comeback to now be appreciated in her home nation following her impressive Olympic campaign that yielded three gold medals.

She started off with a dominant win in the women’s 200m, beating Julien Alfred and Brittany Brown to second and third place before being a vital part of the women’s 4x100m and 4x400m races where Team USA also claimed gold.

After the Olympic Games, Gabby Thomas capped off her season with a second-place finish behind Brittany Brown in the women’s 200m at the Athlos NYC meet.

Her efforts being recognised are a motivation booster for her to keep going and she has already fired warning shots ahead of next season, where athletes will be looking to build up on the Paris Olympic Games exploits and others will be out to seek redemption after a disastrous 2024.

Sharing the post on her X (Twitter) handle, Gabby Thomas proudly noted that the only way will be up and she is indeed not letting anyone dim her light.

“Jackie Joyner-Kersee female athlete of the year✨. Thank you @usatf, and to my day one who presented me the award @BaileyTonja. Humbled, honored, and not slowing down,” she said.

The women’s 200m will promise to be a thrilling show with Shericka Jackson coming back for revenge after painfully missing out on the Paris Olympic Games due to an injury. She had raced sparingly in the build up to the Games to avoid further damage but fate planned otherwise.

Jackson will be hungry to defend her title and she is undoubtedly one of Gabby Thomas’ threats going into 2025 since she is also the fastest woman alive over the distance.

Brittany Brown, after thrashing Gabby Thomas in the women’s 200m at Alexis Ohanian’s Athlos will be looking to build up on that to silence her compatriot. She is a formidable 200m runner and will be out to improve her 200m Olympic bronze to a silver or even gold at the World Championships.

Julien Alfred has the potential of the 200m but is not confident enough to attack it but with the lofty plans the coach has planed for her, she will be unbeatable over the distance. She has mastered the art of the 100m and more focus will be on the 100m next season.
