Over 10,000 participants from more than 170 countries will be in China for the Games.
Ahead of the World University Games in China, the Nigeria University Games (NUGA) has commenced trials to select Nigeria's representatives at the Games.
Pulse Sports reports that 100 student-athletes will represent Nigeria at the competition that will take place from July 27 to August 8 in Chengdu, China.
Every two years, the multi-sport competition brings together student-athletes from all around the world to compete for honors in a range of sports.

NUGA's Acting Secretary General, Chidiebere Ezeani, said that the World University Games for Nigerian students are an excellent chance to shine internationally and honor their country.

The National U18 and U20 Trials is ongoing in Kaduna, and has produced several talents who are set to represent Nigeria at the African U18 and U20 Championships in Zambia.
Ezeani added that they are appealing to the government and philanthropists to support the students in China.

Nigeria is expected to compete for honors in seven games, including track and field, swimming, badminton, judo, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, and Tennis.
NUGA has regularly produced World class athletes who took part in the Games in the past.
What is World University Games
Student-athletes from all over the world come together every two years for the World University Games, a multisport competition where they compete for medals in a variety of sports.
