The retired sprinter noted that after her performance at the Diamond League Meeting in Oslo where she finished fifth, Jackson never looked composed starting the race. He explained that the Jamaican sprint queen has not been herself these past few days.
“Well, I think they have kept some injuries very quiet and I know their actions during the Olympic year is to put athletes on training for a little longer than most camps do. However, once you get through that kind of training, you are okay for the year,” Boldon told Letsrun.com.
“Think of Shericka last year, everybody was on fumes, Sha’Carri lost, remember when she ran the 200m last year at Prefontaine? So, they get their athletes ready by not worrying about what the calendar will look like.
“When she came out, she was not looking herself, she looked heavy, she looked sluggish but she did recover in time to win the Jamaican Olympic trials. Her 200m looks good but not great,” he added.
As per Sports Illustrated, Jackson has not been primed to win either the 100m and 200m. In the 100m, they completely ruled out the Jamaican while in the 200m, they predicted that Jackson would finish second.
“I noticed that the picks from Sports Illustrated do not have her winning either the 100m or 200m and I have a feeling that her injury or whatever it was is more than what they are letting on,” he said.
