Africa 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala is set to go head to head with arch-rival Akani Simbine at the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat, Morocco scheduled for Sunday, May 28.

Before Omanyala broke the African record during the 2021 Kip Keino Classic, Simbine was the African holder.
Omanyala has had a great start to his season and has only lost two out of the nine races he has competed in so far. His first loss was during his indoor tour at the Miramas meet where he settled for second place over the 60m.
His second and most recent loss was during the Atlanta City Games where he was debuting over the 150m race and was forced to place third. However, the time he posted (14.89) saw him set a new African record.
On his part, Simbine has only competed in four races where he won three. He lost the 100m race at the just concluded Atlanta City Games where he settled for second place in 10.01.

The 26-year-old has hinted at lowering his African record at the Continental Tour meeting in Nairobi.
