His recent victory was at the Botswana Golden Grand Prix where he destroyed a strong field to win in a time of 9.78 seconds.

ATHLETICS Why Omanyala’s Botswana Golden Grand Prix victory was restored
Africa’s fastest man saw his win upheld having earlier been disqualified for line infringement
He then started off his outdoor season at the second Athletics Kenya meet that saw him record a world leading time of 9.81.
However, World Athletics rejected the time due to a faulty wind gauge. The disappointment did not set him back as he went for his South Africa outdoor tour and in the two races he competed in, he won dominantly.
His recent victory was at the Botswana Golden Grand Prix where he destroyed a strong field to win in a time of 9.78 seconds. The fact that the time he recorded was wind-assisted means that it will not be ratified as a world lead but his win still stands.
As reported by The East African, Botswana Golden Grand Prix Media Officer Calistus Kolantsho noted that Omanyala’s lane infringement was not picked up by the timers or reported to the timers hence his victory is upheld.
