Mo Farah is currently on a three-day ambassadorial visit to Kenya.

President Ruto recently met with British long-distance running legend and Goodwill Ambassador of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), Mo Farah, at State House Nairobi.

Farah is currently in Kenya on a three-day trip, and on Sunday, he inaugurated the ‘Mo Farah Centre’—a new digital laboratory—at the Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) in Kenya last Sunday.

He also got to meet President Ruto, and  during their meeting, the Kenya leader emphasised the importance of viewing migration as a search for opportunities, even when driven by conflict or the effects of climate change.

In his comments, President Ruto highlighted the need for a collaborative global effort to address migration challenges.

“The world must work in concert in finding solutions that make migration positive rather than negative,” Ruto wrote on his Facebook page.

“Migration should increasingly be seen as a search for opportunities even when movement is forced by conflict or ravages of climate change."

The meeting was also attended by Sharon Dimanche, the Chief of Mission for the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).

The discussions likely focused on the current state of migration, its challenges, and the role that organizations like the IOM and influential figures like Mo Farah can play in shaping a more positive narrative around migration.

President Ruto's engagement with Mo Farah, a renowned athlete and advocate for migration issues, underscores the importance of global collaboration and dialogue in addressing complex issues such as migration.

As migration continues to be a pressing global issue, initiatives that promote understanding, compassion, and support for migrants are crucial in creating a more inclusive and positive environment for all.

Mo Farah is considered one of the greatest runners of all time, his ten global championship gold medals (four Olympic and six World titles) make him the most successful male track distance runner ever, and he is the most successful British track athlete in modern Olympic Games history.
