Olympic champion Quincy Hall is making a bold decision in his track career setting the stage for exciting changes.

Olympic 400m champion Quincy Hall is taking his career to a new level, embracing a challenge that could solidify his status as one of the top sprinters in track and field.

After a stunning gold medal performance at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Hall has made a decisive move—signing with Grand Slam Track ahead of the inaugural professional track league season in 2025.

Hall, who just two years ago switched from the 400m hurdles to the flat 400m in hopes of qualifying for the U.S. Olympic team, has seen his hard work pay off in dramatic fashion.

Not only did he win Olympic gold in Paris with a personal best and world-leading time of 43.40 seconds, but he also claimed a spot among the world's elite sprinters.

And now, with his recent signing, Hall’s focus will shift to long sprints, including the 200m and 400m, in the highly anticipated Grand Slam Track season.

Reflecting on his decision to switch events, Hall said, “I never made a USA team doing the 400m hurdles.”

Now ranked fourth on the world all-time list and third in the U.S., Hall is determined to build on his success and dominate in 2025.

The Grand Slam Track league promises to be a thrilling new platform for athletes like Hall to showcase their talents on a global stage.

Hall will be joined by two-time Olympic medalist Matthew Hudson-Smith, who also recently signed with the league.

Hudson-Smith made headlines in Paris by finishing just four-hundredths of a second behind Hall to earn the silver medal, and their growing rivalry could be a highlight of the upcoming season.

Hudson-Smith, who has medaled in three consecutive global championships, including a silver at the 2023 World Championships, spoke about his close race with Hall in Paris.

“I thought I had it. If you’re going to win, you’re going to have to take it from me. That’s exactly what he did.”

With both athletes now signed to Grand Slam Track, fans can expect more thrilling battles between the two.

Although Hall and Hudson-Smith have faced off only four times in their careers, they are tied 1–1 in their head-to-head matchups.

Their most recent showdown at the Oslo Diamond League saw Hudson-Smith clinch victory with a time of 44.07 seconds, while Hall finished fifth. However, Hall had the last laugh in Paris, overtaking Hudson-Smith in the final stretch to claim Olympic gold.

What makes their future matchups even more intriguing is the fact that neither Hall nor Hudson-Smith has raced each other in the 200m event yet.

Hall, who has not competed in the 200m since 2015, will now be focusing on both the 200m and 400m as part of his Grand Slam Track commitment.

Hudson-Smith, with a personal best of 20.34 seconds in the 200m from the 2024 British Olympic Trials will surely be a tough competitor, setting the stage for exciting showdowns.

All eyes will be on how he adapts to the new challenge particularly in the 200m, an event he has not raced in nearly a decade.

But if his Olympic triumph is any indication Quincy Hall is more than ready for whatever comes next.
