A much awaited clash with Jamaican Fraser-Price will not materialize in the Kenyan capital.
Opinion dividing American sprinter Sha’Carry Richardson was the highlight of a star-studded delegation that jetted into Nairobi, Kenya on Monday morning for next weekend’s Kip Keino Classic.
Richardson, who has courted trouble in the past due to use of marijuana related products she had been using, is the fastest female 100m runner this year after blazing to an impressive 10.79s dash to win the Doha Diamond League meeting last weekend.
However, she is not going to participate in the 100m at 4th edition of Kip Keino Classic. Instead, Sha’Carry Richardson will be in the 200m race.

She touched down at JKIA on Monday morning in the company of reigning javelin champion Anderson Peters, 100m Olympic silver medalist Kenneth Bednarek, Terry Twanisha (100m), Kyra Jefferson (200m), Kyree King (200m), Aaron Brown (200m), Teahna Daniels (100m) and Jerome Blake (100m).
Middle-distance women’s runner Angelic Cichocka is the first international athlete to arrive in Kenya for the Kip Keino Classic. Cichoka won gold medal in 2016 European championships and silver medal in 2015 European Indoor Championships in addition to another silver won in the 2014 World Indoors.

The 4th edition of Kip Keino Classic is drawing top drawer athletes with Jamaican super star Shelly-Ann Fraser-price arguably the biggest name to enter.
A long-awaited showdown between Fraser-Price and Sha’Carry Richardson will not materialize at the Kenyan capital as the American has opted to go for 200m while the Jamaican is strictly doing 100m.
Boy wonder Anderson Peters will face-off with homeboy and former world champion Julius Yego in the javelin. Yego has been out of color in recent years but a home performance against such a magical thrower as Peters could trigger a torrent of adrenalin in the Kenya Police thrower.
Aaron Brown, Bednarek and King will add flavor in the sprints where homeboy Ferdinand Omanyala is the top dog.
Omanyala has been busy on track with two races in the Grand Prix followed by unconventional 150m participation in the USA last weekend. He will be keen to defend his kip Keinno Classic crown won last year at the same venue.
