ATHLETICS Samwel Imeta to join Omanyala at the Golden Grand Prix
Imeta has a personal best time of 10.12 over the 100m distance.
The race has attracted South Africa’s Bradley Nkoana, the second fastest athlete in the field behind Imeta with a PB of 10.20. The 18-year-old took part in the first and second editions of the Grand Prix that saw him finish among the top five in both.
He will want to replicate the same performance as he lines up in the third edition. Nkoana will enoy the company of compatriots Lehlogonolo Maseko, Mihlali Xhotyeni, Mbhoni Mabunda and Nthando Motsepe.
22-year-old Mojela Koneshe of Lesotho will also be hunting for a win when he lines up against the strong field. With a PB of 10.23 at such a young age, Koneshe might just upset the big boys to take the top honours in the race. Congo’s Oliver Mwimba will also be in the race with a quest for a podium finish.
On his part, Imeta has had a great start of his season that saw him run a first-ever sub-10 time in his career. During the second Athletics Kenya meet, he clocked 9.94 o clock the finish line second behind Omanyala.
