“I thank God for everything and I was hoping that my brother and I would be selected to represent the country in Ghana. I train with my younger brother, Edmund, who is our last born and I’m happy that we shall be competing together.

“We want to go back to training and take the first two medals because steeplechase is usually known to be dominated by Kenyans. I pray that we shall go there and work hard and bring home all the glory,” an elated Serem said during a post-race interview.

He added that getting good results in Ghana will be a morale booster ahead of the Olympic Games where the 21-year-old will be debuting if he makes the cut.

Meanwhile, Serem’s breakthrough came during the 2021 World Under-20 Championships where he stunned the whole world to take gold in the water and barrier event.

The youngster then went ahead and bagged bronze at the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

On his part, Edmund was elated to have made the cut and he admitted that training with his brother has been of great impact in his career.
