Stunning Olympic revenge for Sha'Carri Richardson with blazing victory over Julien Alfred at Zurich Diamond League.
In their first race post-Paris Olympics final, Sha'Carri Richardson got her confidence-boosting revenge over Julien Alfred with stunning 100m victory at the Zurich Diamond League.
Despite a poor start, the world 100m champion's top-end speed proved just too good for the rest of the field as she blazed past a fast-starting Alfred and Dina Asher-Smith to cross the finish line first in a blistering 10.84s.
The newly crowned Olympic champion settled for second in 10.88s, edging Asher-Smith who finished third in 10.89s.
Africa's fastest woman in history Marie Josee Ta Lou-Smith was fourth in 19.93s, as US youngster Tamari Davis completed the top 5 in 11.06s.
Richardson's bounce back to winning ways against a star-studded field in Zurich proves that the American track star is still on top of her game and the one to beat on any day.
Also, losing to Alfred in Paris may have boiled down to the unfortunate circumstance of being denied entry into the stadium a few hours before her semifinal race which could have affected her mentally and physically.
