Five-time World 100m champion Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce has expressed her elation after celebrating 10 years of existence of the Pocket Rocket Foundation.

She noted that people gave her the chance to shine and explore her talents and she extended a hand of gratitude to everyone who held her hand. To show gratitude, she explained that she founded the foundation that has been out to make a real impact in society.

“This past weekend we all gathered to celebrate a ‘Decade of Difference at Pocket Rocket Foundation. To look back at over a decade of impact and service, I can’t help but be overwhelmed with joy.

For all my life, there have been so many people who have poured into me so that I could become the woman and athlete I am today. And for that, I am beyond grateful.

From that gratitude, I founded the Pocket Rocket Foundation on the basis of making a real impact in communities where we live and work,” a part of the post read.

She added that the beneficiaries of the foundation this year are a depiction of the younger version of herself. 73 students have managed to benefit this year and Fraser-Pryce has explained that it is just the tip of the iceberg.

The World 100m bronze medallist noted that the foundation is focused on striking the balance between sports and education for a well-rounded life.

“From the beginning to end, you have been there, pouring into our foundation’s work and into the individual homes of students within our program.

It is your generosity that helps us fuel the futures of student-athletes so they can soar to new heights.

It is because of your time and effort that we have been able to touch countless families across our island,” she also extended a hand of gratitude to the people she works with.
