'It’s not only me' - Speechless Sifan Hassan reveals crazy 2024 after being crowned Women’s World Athlete of the Year
The Dutchwoman added another title to her trophy cabinet as her stellar career takes shape.
Jackson has revealed that her aggressiveness forced her to grow thick skin from a young age and she never really got to enjoy the perks of being a child. However, she pointed out that at the moment, she has toned down her aggressiveness a bit.
The two-time world 100m silver medallist added that her aggressive personality chased many of her friends away and those who were close to her were always afraid of letting her know if she was wrong because of how she would react.
“It’s something where, I think a lot of people told me back then that I need to change the way I approach things but as I said it was a barrier where I felt like I needed to protect myself,” Shericka Jackson said.
“In that space, I don’t think I had enough people in my corner, just as being in a high school to say okay then, they will protect me. I felt like I was my own protector so I think it really helps me a lot cause I just felt too grown up for my age.”
Thanks to her strong personality, Shericka Jackson has managed to make a name for herself in the world of sprinting. She is a four-time world champion and has one gold medal to her name from the Olympic Games relays.
She also has a silver medal from the Olympic Games, two bronze medals and has won three Diamond League Meeting trophies. However, Jackson has yet to win an individual medal in the 200m and was hoping to accomplish that this year.
