Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has disclosed what she wants to achieve when she competes in the extra 200m and 400m in Brussels after being excluded from the main Diamond League Meeting programme.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone will race in two ‘special’ races, the 200m and 400m at the Diamond League Meeting in Brussels.
The 400m hurdles world record holder has been in great shape and she will be out to impress with the hope of setting personal best times in both races. She opened her season with the 200m and flat 400m and has expressed the desire to end her season on a high with the two races.
As quoted by the Brussels Diamond League organisers, she explained that her main focus has been on the 400m hurdles for the whole season but noted that it was time for a slight shift. Her personal best time in the 400m stands at 48.74 seconds while her 200m personal best time is 22.07 seconds.

“I started my season this spring with the 200 and 400 meters and I would like to end it with them now, see where I am now on those distances, after having focused on the 400 meters hurdles for a whole year. My goal is to improve my personal records,” McLaughlin-Levrone said.
She added that after setting the 50.37 seconds world record in the 400m hurdles at the Paris Olympic Games, she took a well-deserved break, going on holiday to Greece with her husband Andre Levrone.
At the Olympic Games, McLaughlin-Levrone also anchored the American team to a gold medal in the women’s 4x400m relay team.

Lucrative prize money attracts dozens of foreign runners to Nairobi City Marathon
The high prize money offered is one of the major motivations for athletes from about 40 countries who have registered for this year's edition of the Nairobi City Marathon.
“My husband and I went to Greece to relax for a week. That was necessary after those fantastic Olympic Games, which I had been working towards for so long. I feel very grateful for what I was able to experience in Paris,” she said.
“After that, we returned to Los Angeles. But because I still feel physically and mentally fresh, I wanted to run one more meeting to close the season.”
McLaughlin-Levrone also expressed her thrill to be racing in Brussels, disclosing that her coach Bob Kersee has shared a lot of great things about the venue of the competition and its environs. She insisted on looking to make her fans happy and also checking out the delicacies including waffles and chocolate.
“The World Championships will take place in mid-September. That might open up more opportunities to run in Europe, but we’ll see,” she added.
