Ruringu Stadium in Nyeri was initially the preferred venue before AK officials switched.

After hosting a successful second meeting at the Nyayo National Stadium on February 25 and 26, Athletics Kenya has announced the next meeting to be staged on March 10 and 11.

The meet was initially set to be held at the Ruringu Stadium in Nyeri but the venue has been changed to the Thika Stadium.

The second meet attracted the highest number of athletes who mainly participated in the sprints. The event also saw African champion Ferdinand Omanyala run a world leading time of 9.81 over 100m with Samuel Imeta run a personal best time of 9.94 (his first ever sub-10 in his career).

Owing to the bulging number of prospects, AK has encouraged athletes who wish to participate to register before Tuesday, March 7 at 4:00 p.m.

The categories to be participated include the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m and 10,000m men’s and women’s races. Others include the 100m/110m Hurdles, 4x100m, 4x400m, 3000m SC and 400m Hurdles for both men and women.

The field events include Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, Discuss, Hammer and Javelin.
