Julien Alfred is burning the midnight oil to ensure she dethrones Sha'Carri Richardson at next year's World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

Julien Alfred is not resting on her laurels as campaigns begin for the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, Japan where she will be out to go for the coveted 100m title.

The reigning Olympic champion has already fired warning shots at defending champion Sha’Carri Richardson and other sprinters who will be hoping to impress on the world stage. Alfred has hinted at resuming training and this time around, things are very different, thanks to her coach, Edrick Floreal.

The Olympic 200m silver medallist revealed that she does not want to get carried away in the wave of her Olympic success and at the moment, she is looking to get into the grind. Just like Julien Alfred, most sprinters have already resumed training.

“Training has been so different, this year it’s been a lot harder than before, thanks to Flo. Now, the Olympics is over and I’ll be preparing for the World Championships next year,” Julien Alfred said in an interview with Flo Track.

“I’m just trying to lock in and remember that I’m only as good as my last race and just trying to get focused and not get too comfortable as of now.”

Alfred revealed that she realised her potential in running when in primary school since she always used to beat the boys sometimes. Her librarian is the one who noticed her exceptional skills in running and told a coach to add her to a club.

Since then, Julien Alfred has never looked back despite the tons of challenges she was forced to face including having to relocate to Jamaica at a very young age and losing her father.

“When I first started competing in primary school, I was competing against the girls and boys at my school and beating some of them and that’s when I realised that I had a special talent and my school librarian spoke to my childhood coach and allowed me to join a club. I realised that I had the potential to do well,” Julien Alfred said.
