Chepkoech qualified courtesy of her dominant exploits at the just concluded Meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais Trophée EDF. She finished third in the 3000m hotly contested race.

She now joins Teresiah Gateri who was Kenya’s sole representative in the 3000m and they will work together to bring medals back home.

Speaking to Nation Sport, Chepkoech was elated to have been selected for the team as she seeks to emulate Hellen Obiri, the only Kenyan to win a gold medal in the 3000m at the World Indoor Championships.

“I will be happy to do both but I will weigh the options since I am going for nothing short of a podium finish,” the 2019 World Champion told Nation Sport.

Meanwhile, Korir will join Vivian Kiprotich in the women’s 800m race while Noah Kibet and Collins Kipruto will be competing in the men’s 800m.

The men’s 1500m remains unchanged with reigning World Under-20 champion Reynold Cheruiyot teaming up with the former champion, Vincent Keter with the hope of taking the first two slots in the final of the race.
