Noah Lyles has explained why he does not like rewatching the 200m Olympic final where he was forced to finish third after testing positive for COVID.

Noah Lyles has once again spoken about his 200m final race at the Paris Olympic Games and explained why he does not like watching the video.

The triple world champion was targeting a gold medal at the Olympic Games but tested positive for COVID and therefore could not show up in his healthiest form. In the build-up to the Paris Olympic Games, Noah Lyles had expressed intentions to go for triple gold just like he did at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

In an unexpected turn of events, he was forced to take bronze in the men’s 200m, finishing third behind Letsile Tebogo and Kenny Bednarek. He also withdrew from the men’s 4x100m relay. Noah Lyles was off to a great start in his campaign, taking gold in the men’s 100m and beating Kishane Thompson and Fred Kerley to second and third places.

In an interview with the Guardian, Noah Lyles was proud to have shown up for the 200m but revealed that he still has a lot of questions regarding what could have been if he did not test positive for COVID. He revealed that watching the episode on the Sprint docuseries is very tough on his side.

“I’m proud of the moment but it’s still so hard to watch because I can only constantly just think what if. What if I didn’t get Covid?” Noah Lyles said.

In a past interview with the Philadelphia Inquirer, the reigning Olympic 100m champion explained that his 200m bronze medal is one of his favourites. He revealed that it was one of the hardest medals he had to fight for.

Noah Lyles pointed out that looking at the medal is so fulfilling since he managed to show up even when everyone around him doubted if he could do it.

“It’s probably one of my favourites. It’s so crazy. In the last Olympics, I got bronze and I was so defeated and then this year I grabbed the gold in the 100m but again grabbed the bronze in the 200-meter and that was the hardest medal I ever had to fight for. I felt so accomplished because I felt like it was only something that I could truly do,” Noah Lyles shared.
