Kipchoge will not be resting on his laurels as he gears up for the next huge assignment that awaits him.

After his dominant exploits in the Berlin Marathon, two-time Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge will now be looking to become the first man to win the Olympic marathon title three times as he gears up for the Games in Paris, France next year.

The four-time London Marathon champion was using the Berlin Marathon as a build-up to the Olympic Games and he now believes the stage is set for him to bring the world to a standstill next year.

The 38-year-old clocked 2:02:42 to win the race ahead of debutant Vincent Kipkemoi who finished second in 2:03:13 as Ethiopia's Tadese Takele completed the podium in 2:03:24.

“I want to concentrate and get all my experience from the 2021 and 2022 races and implement it in next year’s Olympic Games.

"I will try to be on the podium or even possibly make history as the first man to win three titles,” Kipchoge said in a post-race interview.

His first win at the Olympics was in the 2016 Rio Games where he destroyed a strong field to clinch the title and he went ahead to defend his title at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

He believes he still has it in him to make a statement when he heads to Paris next year but it will all depend on his training and mental strength.
