The National Olympic Committee of Kenya president Paul Tergat has revealed that one of the main reasons NOC-K chose France for training in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics is because of their advanced sports management and training.
NOC-K is aiming to select as many athletes as they can to the global event and Tergat noted that they will be keen to maximise on the Memorandum of Understanding they signed with Bouches-du-Rhône, a department in Southern France to ensure the Kenyan team trains effectively before the assignment.

ATHLETICS Hellen Obiri eyeing her first Olympic gold at next year's Paris Olympics
This year started on a high for her as she opened her season with back-to-back wins at the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon and the New York City Half Marathon.
Speaking to the Department of Bouches-du- Rhône, Tergat added that France has a policy that they follow strictly and they would love to emulate that going forward.
“France has a sports policy that allows associations and federations to collaborate with professionals and to have facilities for training. They have implemented innovative sports policies in the service of sport for all with the construction of exceptional and modern sports facilities.
Technical advances in sports management and training as well as an excellent Mediterranean climate were instrumental in setting up our base camp here.
Most importantly, we have seen the potential for an extended partnership before the Games arrive which will allow our athletes, coaches and other technical officials to benefit from longer training and create opportunities beyond the Olympics,” Tergat said.
Tergat added that the partnership will also be essential in improving exchanges between Kenya, France and Europe as a whole.
He revealed that one of the aims of NOC-K is to leverage sport by strengthening sports diplomacy and international relations.
