Winfred Yavi has enjoyed a glamorous 2023 season and the Kenyan-born Bahraini has come out to share the secret behind her success.
Reigning world 3000m steeplechase champion Winfred Yavi has achieved major milestones this season with wins in all her major championships.
The 23-year-old has only lost one race in her specialty this season where she finished 11th at the Diamond League Meeting in Florence, Italy.

Hellen Obiri has expressed her interest in competing for Team Kenya at the Olympic Games where she will be keen to add the only missing accolade in her cabinet.
Yavi bagged the 3000m steeplechase title at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, flooring world record holder Beatrice Chepkoech and reigning World Under-20 3000m steeplechase champion Faith Cherotich who finished second and third respectively.
The Kenyan-born Bahraini also went ahead and bagged the title at the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Meeting final held in Eugene, USA.
She did not rest on her laurels as she went ahead to bag a double, the 1500m and 3000m SC titles at the Asian Games. Yavi has now come out to share the recipe for her success after a fruitful 2023 season.

Kenyan coaches are scratching their heads concerning the chances of Kenya medalling in the steeplechase at the Olympic Games next year.
“As an athlete, I have the discipline to listen to my coach and I also follow his program to the core. I also wake up early in the morning to train, just as my coach always advises.
"We also sit down and have discussions on how to rectify my mistakes, especially after a race. My coach has been very impactful in my life because he has helped enhance my performance,” Yavi told TVL News.
She also explained that there is a lot she is looking forward to achieving in the future including making athletics grow worldwide even in her rural area, Ukambani. She added that she is planning to have a training camp where she would love to be encouraging the young girls.
