Games scheduled before July 27th will go on, starting with Wednesday’s action at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium.
With less than ten days left until the start of the FIBA Women’s Afrobasket 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda, the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA) has postponed National Basketball League action.
This, according to a statement from the federation, is to allow all stakeholder put their weight behind the Gazelles when the tournament tips off on July 28th.
“The Senior National Women’s Team (Gazelles) is scheduled to take part in the Upcoming FIBA Women’s Afrobasket Championship on July 28th 2023, to August 6th 2023, in Kigali Rwanda,” part of the statement sent out Tuesday night, reads.

“This serves to inform all Teams, Club Presidents, Team Managers, Athletes, Fuba Officials and all other stakeholders that the Senior National Women’s Team (Gazelles) is scheduled to take part in the Upcoming FIBA Women’s Afrobasket Championship on July 28th 2023 to August 6th 2023 in Kigali Rwanda.
“Therefore, all different Leagues fixtures across all Divisions scheduled to take place between July 27th to August 7th 2023, are hereby postponed to enable the basketball fraternity fully support the Team.”
JKL Lady Dolphins is the only team affected by the Gazelles call-ups, with five of their players part of the 12 that will represent Uganda.

Rezlife are bottom on the 12-team log, with a 3-11 record, and it is unlikely their fourth win will come against the champions.
League action will be suspended for up to 12 days and will resume only after the tournament.
