Following a hugely successful FIBA Women's Afrobasket in Kigali, Rwanda where she was impressive, Gazelles' forward Jannon Otto has scooped the finest Basketball player for July at the Fortebet Real Star awards.
She beat teammate Jane Asinde and Junior Silverbacks player Tejan Joel Rugette at the event held on Tuesday at Lazio Restaurant, Lugogo.
Otto left Rwanda as the best small forward and the tournament top scorer after amassing 128 points in six games.
She was integral as the Gazelles clinched seventh position finish, which is the best position ever for the team at the continental showpiece.
The other winners included Draught player Flavia Kusiima, who secured six medals in Zambia during the third African draughts 64 championship and world cup event.
In rugby, Pirates winger Arnold Atukunda scooped the finest player for July after guiding his side to two National Sevens circuit wins of Stone City in Jinja and Kitgum Sevens.
Meanwhile, for helping the Crested Cranes pass the Rwanda test in the first round of the Olympic qualifiers, Fazila Ikwaput took home the footballer of the month award.
In the Para Badminton, Sarah Nazziwa, who won two bronze medals at the Uganda International Para Badminton in Lugogo, was named the best in the sport for July.
She also scooped two gold medals and one silver at the Para Africa Badminton at Lugogo.
On the other hand, Moil Rally duo of Yasin Nasser and Ali Katumba, for the fourth time running, scooped the award for their category.
To beat the pairs of Ronald Ssebuguzi/Anthony Mugambwa and Ibrahim Lubega/Mustafa Kanakulya, Nasser and Katumba won the EMC Moil Jinja Rally.
