Atuhairwe, a businesswoman in Kampala, will fill the shoes of Sandra Munduru Ulanga, who chose to serve one term and step aside.

The Fuba Annual General Meeting held at Hotel Africana on Saturday ushered in new leadership for the federation.

Nasser Sserunjogi retained his seat as President after getting 39 votes, compared to his challenger Gordon Gumisisriza’s 16.

Sserunjogi will now serve another four-year term, having been the Vice President -Administration before taking the top job.

Apart from the President’s seat, the Women’s Commissioner position was the only other contested for in the election.

The trio of Hudson Ssegamwenge, Aggrey Mbonye and Arnold Katabi retained their seats as Vice President -Administration, Vice President -Finance and Vice President -Marketing, respectively.

Patricia Ayebare and Mande Baker Kyambadde replaced Stephen Nyeko and Joseph Manano to complete the seven-member executive as Youths Commissioner and Vice President -Technical and Competitions, respectively.

One of the three members of the executive is Racheal Atuhairwe Ainamasiko, who beat Mariam Birungi to the Women’s Commission seat with 36 votes. Birungi tallied 20.

Through her campaigns, Atuhairwe, a former player with A1 Challenge and Amazon Rhino, revealed her plans to introduce a Sacco for women involved in the sport.

“The Sacco will help improve financial discipline amongst the girls,” Atuhairwe told Pulse Sports after being declared the winner.

“We shall teach the girls how to save and also talk to them about investment and its benefits,” she added.

“By the time my term of office comes to an end, I want ladies to know that even when the sport is supposed to pay us and make us better, we need to know how to develop the game first.”

Atuhairwe, a businesswoman in Kampala, will fill the shoes of Sandra Munduru Ulanga, who chose to serve one term and step aside.

Getting sponsorships for ladies’ teams is also top on the agenda.

“I hope to, at least, get sponsorship for the ladies’ league where they get small contributions to their teams and also help with publicity.”

Atuhairwe was one of the sponsors of the recently concluded Fuba Elite Women’s Day Tournament.
