UCU Canons Captain, Blisk Ibanda, is urging patience as his team prepares to face off against the JKL Dolphins in the 2023 National Basketball League season.

UCU Canons Captain, Blisk Ibanda , is urging patience as his team prepares to face off against the JKL Dolphins in the 2023 National Basketball League season.

Despite a slow start to the season, Blisk is confident his team can bounce back with a win.

"We have looked at our mistakes in the previous games, and we intend to rectify some aspects of our game,” Ibanda told Pulse Sports “This game presents us with the opportunity to bounce back to winning ways," he added.

Blisk acknowledges that the team needs to improve offensively and defensively to give themselves a better chance of winning.

"We struggled offensively in the last game as the Tomahawks almost doubled our attempts within the arc. Our defence also needs to get better." Despite losing two consecutive games against UPDF and City Oilers, the Canons have shown promise in their previous games.

Then Jimmy Otim averaged 16 points per game, making him the third-highest scorer in the league. Jerry Kayanga, with 45% from beyond the arc, is also expected to continue his impressive form.

However, the Canons will need to improve their team chemistry to turn their season around. "The lack of adequate chemistry has played a role in the team's poor start to the season, but it can only get better as the season progresses," Ibanda noted.

Meanwhile, the JKL Dolphins have also struggled in the season's early stages, with only one wins out of their first four games.

However, Denis Tom Omara and Bienfait Minani have averaged 16 points per game this season, making them the Dolphins' most prominent scoring threats.

The Dolphins will look to control the boards and maximise their size in the paint, having scored 108 points and 53 second-chance points in that department.

In recent head-to-head meetings, the Canons have come out on top, winning their last three encounters, including a dominating 81-29 victory in their previous game against the Dolphins.

As both teams face off against each other in unfamiliar territory, it remains to be seen who will come out on top.

However, fans can expect a thrilling game filled with talented players, high-scoring plays, and intense competition.
